PAST AND PRESENT

The Elysian Singers (Wetherby) were formed in Wetherby, West Yorkshire in 1974 as a 12-strong amateur madrigal group.   Since that date we have grown and broadened our repertoire to our present 30 or so members, still singing mainly unaccompanied music.

OUR LATEST CD

Our latest CD, ‘When Music Sounds’, has 13 tracks recorded live at various concerts between 2011 and 2015.  Copies cost £7 each (including post and packing).

 SINGING OUT

We seek to perform to a high standard, and we maintain this through regular  rehearsal and the requirement for potential new members to pass an audition.

Over the years we have provided outreach services to local groups, primary and secondary schools.   In October 2009, as part of the Wetherby Festival, we staged "The Last Night of the Proms" with pupils from Wetherby High School and York Railway Institute Band.   Since 2010 we have been giving Christmas concerts with local primary schools.  We perform regularly at charity fundraising concerts, particularly for local causes.  We also sing at weddings and at funerals.

The Elysian Singers (Wetherby) were a founder performer at the Wetherby Festival of Music and have performed in the Festival many times since it first took place in 1978.

In March 2011 we entered the Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music Speech and Drama, for the first time for over 30 years, and were the winners of the class for Unaccompanied Church Music.

Our first CD "In Harmony" has been featured on Radio 3 and local radio.   We have also performed on national television.

The Elysian Singers (Wetherby) are a member of 'Making Music',  (formerly the National Federation of Music Societies), of Voices Yorkshire, and of the Wetherby Festival.

We are a registered charity, no, 109774.
